Do you know the song, “I Wanna Talk About Me”, by Toby Keith? It’s a song about how a man feels when he talks to a woman…he can never get a word in! She gets so caught up talking about herself and all the details of her life, that finally, the man exclaims, “You know talking about you makes me smile, but every once in awhile…I want to talk about me!”
I love this song because Keith’s insights are humorous and entertaining, but I also think they serve as a great reminder that our conversations with God may look similar! Like the verses of the song, we are gently reminded that if we spend all our time thinking and praying about ourselves – what we think, want, need, and feel – we may never get around to asking God what His ideas and plans are for our lives!
God has given each of us specific spiritual gifts and a special calling on our lives; He has big plans for each of us! But, sometimes, it’s difficult to discern exactly what those plans look like! SEND is dedicated to helping young adults discover and explore their spiritual gifts and realize who God created them uniquely to be. We believe that our lives should to be a dialogue with God, where we seek His will for us, not a one-way conversation where we tell him our own plans for our lives!
If you find yourself wondering how to make your life with God more of a dialogue than a one-way chat, I encourage you to check out SEND! There is no better time than now to learn more about how you can deepen your faith, discover your spiritual gifts, and learn what God’s plan is for your life! I would love to hear from you today!
